Puccini's breakthrough third opera, Manon Lescaut, is the moment his genius catches fire. In its soaring melodies and surging drama, you can already hear the seeds of La Boheme, Tosca and Madame Butterfly - yet this is a masterpiece in its own right. A passionate tale of love, desire and betrayal, it asks: is Manon drawn to luxury, or is Des Grieux the ultimate romantic, sacrificing everything for love?
Performed in the beautiful surroundings of Normansfield, sung in Italian with full orchestra and chorus, this promises to be another triumph for Rose Opera, following our acclaimed 2024 Tosca and 2025 Cav/Pag double bill.
