Our First Socially Distanced Opera Gala

Rose Opera held a socially distanced opera gala in the Normansfield Theatre on Sunday October 25th at 18:00. The gala was well received and extremely well reviewed.

The audience heard a selection of well known arias and ensembles from operas by Strauss, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, Massenet, Gounod and Bizet. Featuring Rose Opera soloists and Chorus. The programme included:

Social Distancing Precautions

We ask audience members and performers to follow our social distancing precautions:

  • Rose Opera will follow the most recent Government guidelines on social distancing for public performances, and also will comply fully with the policy and procedures on social distancing applied by the Normansfield Theatre.

  • Please do not attend this performance if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact within the last 14 days of anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

  • Audience is strictly limited to 30 seats.

  • Audience members are asked to wear masks at all times when inside the theatre.

  • Audience members will be seated in socially distanced 'bubbles' in the groups in which they purchased tickets. Each group will have the name of the group printed on the back of the group's chairs. We ask audience members kindly to sit in these groups except when entering or exiting the theatre, or when visiting the toilets.

  • There will be no bar service available. Please bring along any food or drinks that you require.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance to the theatre and toilets. We ask audience and performers to use this on entry and exit of the theatre, and when using the toilets.

  • Please maintain appropriate social distance from others in the theatre at all times.

  • Performers will wear masks at all times except when singing.

  • The chorus will be seated at the front of the auditorium, facing the audience. There will be at least 6m between the chorus and the nearest audience member.

  • Soloists will sing from the stage. There will be approximately 10m between soloists and the nearest audience members.
